HawaiiGolfDeals.com, in conjunction with our partners — The Hawaii Visitors & Conventional Bureau, Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Waikoloa Beach Resort's Beach & Kings' Courses, Hapuna Prince Golf Club at Mauna Kea and American Airlines - is pleased to invite you to The Coachella Cup.
The Coachella Cup event brings you and members of your Coachella region club to Hawaii during your fall over-seeding period in the Coachella Valley.
Even though we have designed a competitive event for those so inclined, non-competitive golfers and non-golfers are encouraged to attend and be an integral part of the overall experience. The package described below also applies to non-competitive golfers, who will play casual golf on each of the three courses twice. For non-golfers, we substitute in a four-day spa program (described below) for the golf portion of the package.

YOUR LODGING
The Waikoloa Beach Resort is the home to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and hundreds of villa-style accommodations. Double-occupancy participants can choose the Waikoloa Beach Marriott for 10 nights or a deluxe one-bedroom villa on the Waikoloa Beach Resort for up to 12 nights. Those who lodge via quad-occupancy may choose a deluxe or premium two-bedroom/two-bath villa on the Waikoloa Beach Resort for a stay of up to 12 nights.
The Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is an oasis of aesthetic pleasure on the Waikoloa oceanfront. Its newly renovated and refurbished rooms captivate the senses and invigorate the spirit. Set against a blue Pacific backdrop on 15 sea-scaped acres fronting ancient Hawaiian fishponds and Anaeho‘omalu Bay, the Marriott delivers more than just an eyeful — it delivers exceptional service and a variety of amenities. The swimming options include a heated Infinity salt-water pool, two other pools, three spas and an expansive beach. For our long-stay participants, there is a on-site coin-operated laundry and a very short walk to the two major shopping villages on the Kohala Coast — the Waikoloa Kings’ Shops and Queens’ Shops — where dining and shopping options abound. Daily full buffet breakfast, state–of-the-art fitness center, parking and all applicable taxes are included in the lodging package at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott. No resort fees or hidden charges whatsoever.
HawaiiGolfDeals Waikoloa Collection offers villas from our six favorite Waikoloa communities in the Deluxe and Premium categories. These spacious, fully furnished, one-bedroom and two-bedroom/two-bath units feature a gourmet kitchen, washer/dryer, lanai and BBQ. Each community has pools, spa, workout facilities and plenty of free parking. As much as possible, groups traveling together will be lodged in the same community. Some are within an easy walk of the two shopping villages. Others are just 2-3 minutes away by car. In the overall Kings’ and Queens’ Shops mix are six full-service restaurants, a food court with eight eateries and a gourmet market with a host of eat-in and takeout items.
MEALS & Dining Options
For those lodging at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott, daily buffet breakfast is included. For every participant, there will be a Welcome Dinner Banquet Bash, as well as one dinner at the Waikoloa Kings’ Grill for each group. Dining discounts will also be available throughout the Waikoloa Beach Resort (and nearby) during the entire Coachella Cup period by presentation of your GOLFHAWAIICARD, which is included for every member of your group.
GETTING AROUND ON THE BIG ISLAND
Those participants lodging at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa will receive a midsize car from a leading rental car provider. Those lodging in quad occupancy villas will receive a minivan. Parking is free at all villas and included at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott. There is also free shuttle service available between the Marriott and Waikoloa’s two golf courses.
THE GOLF
The Big Island of Hawaii, twice the size of all the other Hawaiian Islands combined, is one of the most fascinating places on the planet. It offers outstanding golf in one of the world’s most exotic locations. On this island where Heaven and Earth seemingly survived an epic battle with the forces of nature, master craftsmen of golf design — Robert Trent Jones Jr. plus the teams of Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish and Arnold Palmer & Ed Seay — reached new heights of accomplishment at the Waikoloa Beach Resort’s Beach & Kings’ Courses and at the Mauna Kea Resort’s Hapuna Prince Golf Club. You will play them each twice during The Coachella Cup festivities.
Included in the golf activities are shared power carts, range balls, tee prize, other prizes, all taxes and basic gratuities.
Waikoloa Beach Course — Robert Trent Jones Jr. (1981); 6,566 yds/71.6/134 from the tips — Video A — Video B
The senior of the two Waikoloa Resort courses delivers a classic layout meandering through ancient flows of frozen lava. It features 75 recently renovated bunkers, some rolling terrain, three water features and oft crashing surf as a stunning backdrop to its signature 12th Hole. This crafty design presents many memorable holes, particularly at 2, 4, 8, 10 and 18. The Beach Course also hosts Hawaii’s second largest petroglyph field (ancient lava rock carvings) and an historic fishing village.
Waikoloa Kings’ Course — Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish (1990); 7,074 yds/73.4/135 from the tips — Video A — Video B
This contemporary links-style lava design features hybrid Bermuda turfs, which contrast nicely with the traditional Bermuda at the Beach Course. The challenging yet user-friendly layout offers several risk-reward scenarios over level terrain. Sophisticated bunker strategies and multiple tee placements enhance the charming idiosyncrasies of six greens tucked behind or abutting long ponds. Diabolical lava formations also pop up at the signature short par-4s at the 5th and 13th Holes.

Hapuna Prince GC at Mauna Kea — Arnold Palmer & Ed Seay (1992); 6,875 yds/72.5/134 from the tips — Video
In an era of golf designs that too often seem to manipulate and sometimes mutilate the surrounding terrain, the expertly crafted Hapuna Prince GC literally offers a diamond in the rough. So shrewdly conceived and environmentally sensitive is Hapuna, that it sets the Hawaii standard for integrating golf with nature. From most fairways, nary another hole or cart path is visible. Superbly conditioned, this layout puts a premium on accurate tee shots.
In addition to the six rounds of golf at the courses listed below, every participant will receive a GOLFHAWAIICARD from HawaiiGolfDeals.com in order to access more unlimited golf options at industry-leading pricing. Your GOLFHAWAIICARD will also be your ticket to shopping and dining discounts at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. |
COACHELLA CUP FORMAT
The Coachella Cup program will be available to groups of 20 to 48 members of any individual golf club from the Coachella Valley. Individual teams will be comprised of 12 club members and each club may enter up to three teams to vie for the inaugural Coachella Cup.
The competition will be contested via a three-round series played on each of the participating courses — Waikoloa Beach, Waikoloa Kings’ and Hapuna Prince GC. In order to participate, every team member must have a certifiable handicap attested to by the group leader. Team scores will be determined by taking the best eight net scores each day from the 12 players. The team with the lowest combined three round/54-hole score will be deemed the winner.
Handicaps will be determined by using 75% of the player’s handicap index, followed by applying the index to the course’s applicable chart.
Pro Event
The Waikoloa Kings’ Course will host a “Shootout” format competition for the PGA group leaders. Group members are encouraged to attend and cheer on their club pro.

You are welcome to use any carrier or frequent-flyer program. However, we have partnered with our friends at American Airlines to offer a very special value and convenient booking method to get to The Big Island’s Kona International Airport at Keohole (KOA) in Kailua-Kona.
Coachella Cup participants will receive a special roundtrip rate of $578 per-coach seat Los Angeles (LAX) / Kona (KOA). This price assumes current taxes and fees, which are always subject to change. Should AA fares drop or special published fares appear, you will also receive a 5% discount at time of booking.
The LAX fare and published rate discounts are valid for all flights between October 14 and November 12, 2009. This ticket requires that inventory be available and is non-refundable once ticketed.
To make a discount reservation for yourself or your group, please call AA Meeting Services Desk at 1-800-433-1970 and refer to Promotion Code A62H9AD. Ticketing (payment) is required either seven (7) days prior to departure or seven (7) days after booking, whichever comes first.
