Right now, 27 holes of resort golf are closed with an additional nine holes shuttered, never to re-open. Therefore, for at least most of the first half of 2012, there are 36 less holes available to play than there were just four years ago.

Add to that the incredibly high cost of Kauai's hotels, the lack of fine dining options, some congestion in the Wailua/Kapaa area on the east coast, as well as the unprecedented lack of good golf deals, and you have to ask this magic question...

Just how important is it to visit and play golf on the lovely Garden Island?

Kauai's hotels seem to be way over-priced. You are much better served by staying in condo/villa accommodations, all of which will deliver far greater value and lots more space. Additionally, the Kauai condo/villa properties, as a group, seem to have the best views and oceanside locations that you will find at similar properties on any of the four major islands.
